yoga for community service organizations
Tori's previous experience as a social worker in both front line and policy settings gives her the unique ability to effectively bring yoga to service organizations. Her approach combines a knowledge of trauma sensitive yoga and an ability to creatively adapt yoga exercises, with an understanding of the internal workings of community organizations and the realities of the people who access their services. The result is a style of class that is welcoming, respectful, and above all accessible to everyone who is interested. More information on Tori's teaching methodology can be found here.
Tori has been running a successful weekly class for the George Spady Society out of the Bissell Center for the past four years. She has also taught community classes for the Lurana Shelter Society and The Ermineskin Brighter Futures Program. In 2009, she co-taught sessions on trauma informed yoga at Trauma Informed Edmonton’s three day gathering for front-line service workers in Edmonton.
Sliding scale rates are available for community service clients. Please email email@example.com for more information.
"I just wanted to say how wonderful it was to see you guide and support our community members through something most had never tried before, using a strengths-based and adaptive approach throughout (and watching everyone surprise themselves!). You were gentle, funny, and openly mindful of boundaries and touch. You reinforced focus on "what's working right" with bodies not just through practice but verbally. All of that matters so very much when serving our community members. So thank you!"
